skepticism, common sense and energy.
HOW IT WORKS:
Just pay close attention to national network news, (ABC,
CBS, NBC, CNN, FOX, PBS and other mainstream media sources)
and note precisely what has been said. Now the fun part:
think, analyze motives, verify claims, question spin, and
seek out other perspectives. Then interpret the story from
other viewpoints using facts, logic and credible sources.
Simply stated, you report the OTHER SIDE of the story that
was neglected by mass media.
Since TheOtherNews.com is a public service site in the formative
stages, all positions are volunteer and unpaid at this time.
When monetary compensation is not as important as intellectual
and emotional rewards, you will find gratification from
your contributions very satisfactory at TheOtherNews.

PROFESSIONAL and ASPIRING
WRITERS can explore issues
in which they have special insight or are particularly interested
in, but more importantly, they can educate the public in
a way that is seriously lacking in mainstream media. Must
have a desire to report real news; important news; objective news
that demonstrates there is more than one way to look at
issues. Put aside present personal views that have been
engrained into your psyche and approach every subject with
no prejudice or reservation, and then ask questions as if
you have just arrived on the Planet. Our team will learn
how to uncover the truth; how to put knowledge and power
back into the hands of the people; and how to make a real
difference by allowing people to form their own decisions
independently from mostly one-sided media sources. Since
oftentimes, news networks are just rubber stamping official
government lines, what corporate PR departments have provided
them, or repeating what other mainstream news “sources”
have already reported, the full story is ignored and the
public has left it to network news directors to decide what
side of any particular issue they should be on. And as a
result, the propaganda, spin, rumor mills & PR work, to
the detriment of democracy and the people. Help us change
all that.
PHOTOGRAPHERS AND PHOTOJOURNALISTS are
very important to TON. In this Internet age of immediacy
and when a split second can mean numerous clicks away from
the site, it is more important that ever to “tell the
story of a thousand words” in the most clear and unambiguous
manner. Anyone can snap a picture that requires a detailed
caption to explain it’s relevance. But it takes a very
creative and insightful mind to capture people’s attention
at the push of the shutter button, without much further
explanation necessary.
EDITORS of all degrees,
are needed to sort out stories to meet the requirements
of our stated objectives. It is a genuine challenge to go
the extra mile required to reach a closer truth in order
for a better understanding of the issues for our readers.
To do this, we must relentlessly continue further down the
same road that had been abandoned by our peers. TON is not
a member of the news industry mutual appreciation society.
Proudly we admit we are unconventional, but we take every
precaution to be as accurate as possible. It’s a risky
business but someone has to do it. It gets hot in the kitchen.
